Sam is a third year undergraduate student doing his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering at University of South Florida. Currently he works as a REU student (Research Experience for Undergraduates) under the guidance of Dr. Maya Trotz, working in her laboratory. His present research focus is removal of arsenic from groundwater.
He is a member of USF’s Association of Civil Engineers (ASCE). In ASCE, he works as Webmaster/IT Chair and Treasurer from 2008 till date. From 2007 till present he works as a Tutoring Assistant at USF, tutoring Maths, Engineering and Sciences. From 2006-2008, during winter and summer breaks, he worked with Suncoast Communities Blood Blank, Sarasota, FL, as a Information Technology Assistant. His software skills include Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, AutoCAD, Maple, Mathcad, MATLAB and Microsoft Office package. He has won many awards, including the prestigious USF ASCE Service Award in 2008. He was District Student Ambassador in Hong Kong, China from 2002-2003.
At UNESCO-IHE, Sam will work with Dr. Brainslav Petusevski and his research team, on arsenic removal and effect of water quality parameters on competitive arsenic sorption. |
