Robert Bair |
Robert is a senior undergraduate student in University of South Florida pursuing dual major in Environmental Sciences and International Studies with a minor in Latin American & Caribbean Studies (LACS). Currently he works as a REU student (Research Experience for Students) or Undergraduate Research Assistant with Dr. Daniel Yeh, working on anaerobic digestion of landfill leachate.
Robert has done two internships—one with the Institute of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, USF; two, with “Gram Vikas” (“Rural Development” in Hindi), Bernampur, Orissa, India, where he conducted village resource assessments. He has served as the President of Students for Social Justice, Tampa, FL.
In another 10 years, Robert, of Costa Rican descent, sees himself as a Good Samaritan serving the Latin American rural communities. He intends to dedicate himself to initiatives aiming at eradication of poverty and prevent environmental degradation that more often than not results from unsustainable environmental practices of the poor in the developing world.
Robert is proficient in Spanish and Portuguese, in addition to English. His hobbies include hiking, motorcycling, gardening, canoeing etc. He usually likes to travel and be outdoors.
At UNESCO-IHE, Robert will work with Dr. Piet Lens and his research team, on anaerobic processes and bioreactors. |
