Duncan Peabody

Duncan is a Peace Corps Master’s International Degree student in the Dept. of Civil & Env. Eng at University of South Florida, working with Dr. Jim Mihelcic, with a concentration on sustainable engineering in developing countries. Before joining USF as M.S. student, he completed his undergraduate (B.A.) in Physics, with a minor in Spanish from Lake Forest College, FL in 2008. As a requirement in partial fulfillment of his Master’s he is supposed to go to Dominican Republic coming August, 2009; stay there for 2 years and help develop the local authorities water supply and sanitation infrastructure. Upon finishing his service with the Peace Corps as a Master’s student, he plans to work NGOs on sustainable development.

 

He can speak English and Spanish. Apart from studies, he enjoys playing soccer, rugby, hiking and swimming. He also enjoys cooking and brewing beer at home. At times when textbooks attract him less, he watches movies and listens to music to recharge his academic batteries.

 

At UNESCO-IHE, Duncan will work with Dr. Brainslav Petusevski and his research team, on arsenic removal and effect of water quality parameters on competitive arsenic sorption.
